Overview

The Compass Card website introduces an electronic payment system for Metro Vancouver's public transit, emphasizing a seamless experience for daily commuters. It enables effortless fare and pass management, secure payments, and balance protection through an intuitive, responsive interface.

In my role as the UX Design Lead, I led a team of UX designers, usability researchers, and UI developers. Collaborating closely with TransLink stakeholders, I shaped the strategic user experience vision and provided guidance to the design team within an agile development framework.

Challenges & opportunity

Create a digital fare system tailored for daily transit commuters, prioritizing convenience, user-friendliness, and robust security. This system will seamlessly integrate into an ecosystem that communicates across all transportation modes, encompassing SkyTrain, SeaBus, and West Coast Express railway.

Leadership

In my role, I constructed the design system for the Compass websites, developed the initial roadmap, and aligned business goals with key stakeholders. Through daily collaboration with cross-functional teams, I streamlined feedback communication, addressing challenges encountered at key milestones.

Accessibility design

In designing with accessibility, I prioritize user goals through rigorous usability tests and in-field research, ensuring our project aligns with a broad audience. These tests evaluate basic task completion and performance across platforms, strengthening the product's core value and delighting users daily.

Digital ecosystem

Establishing a seamlessly connected ecosystem for diverse transportation modes and digital platforms ensures adaptability and scalability for Metro Vancouver's evolving transit landscape. This approach prioritizes efficiency, accommodates technological advancements, and anticipates future commuter needs.

Design recognition

Effectively launched Compasscard.ca to the public, seamlessly integrating with Compass ticket vending machines. My team earned recognition from the City of Vancouver, receiving the Award of Excellence for Business Innovation, contributing significantly to public sector growth in Vancouver and benefiting citizens of British Columbia.
